For when something isn’t working

The problem is clear but the cause isn’t

Most problems show up a long way from where they start. The diagnostic finds the cause before time and budget go on the wrong fix.

A project that’s stalling

Milestones slipping, costs creeping or contractors out of step, with no clear view of why.

Change that isn’t sticking

A new system, process or site is in place, but teams keep drifting back to the old way.

Output falling short

How the diagnostic works

Three steps, with the fee and dates agreed before anything starts.

Scoping call

A phone or video call to agree the problem, the dates and the data to gather.

Operational review

Time on the floor, in the performance data and with the people doing the work.

Action plan

A written plan setting out each issue, its cause and what to fix.

What you receive

A clear plan of what to fix and why

Each issue is set out with the evidence behind it, why it matters and what to do about it, in plain language the whole team can follow. The plan belongs to the business, to deliver with its own team, another provider or Operion Group.

Every action plan covers

  • Each issue and its root cause, backed by evidence
  • Actions ranked by impact and effort
  • Quick wins that can start straight away
  • Likely scale and timescale for larger fixes

Operational diagnostic questions

What is an operational review?

An operational review, sometimes called an operational assessment, looks at how an operation really runs, against how it is meant to, to find what is holding performance back. The operational diagnostic is an operational review at a fixed fee for manufacturing, logistics and automotive businesses: 3 days of review, then a written action plan setting out each issue and how to fix it.

What happens during the 3 days?

The time is split between the site and remote sessions, agreed on the scoping call. Typical work includes walking the process, bottleneck analysis, value stream mapping where it helps, reviewing performance data and conversations with the people doing the work. Where waste and flow are the main concern, it can be run as a lean assessment.

Will the review disrupt production?

No. The review works around live output, with nothing changed while it runs. Time with the team is planned around their shifts and workload.

What does the £2,450 cover?

The scoping call, 3 days of review and the written action plan, with travel to the client’s site included. The fee covers one site, with operations across several sites quoted separately. It is paid in advance, once the scope and dates are agreed.

What happens after the action plan?

The plan belongs to the business. It can be delivered by an internal team, another provider or Operion Group through project delivery, change management or operational transformation, with no obligation either way. If further work is undertaken with Operion Group, the £2,450 is credited against it.

Is it the same as an operations audit?

Not in the compliance sense: there is no pass or fail and findings stay within the business. It covers the same ground as an operations audit or process audit, but focuses on performance, from bottlenecks and waste to gaps between how work is planned and how it is done. It is not a certification audit for standards such as ISO 9001.

What if the problem spans more than one area?

That is common and one of the main reasons to start with a diagnostic. The action plan shows where each issue sits and how the fixes connect across areas.

What types of operation are covered?

Production lines, assembly cells, warehouses and distribution centres, along with projects and system rollouts on operational sites. That covers manufacturing, logistics and automotive, from OEMs to their suppliers.

Where is the diagnostic carried out?

On site across Yorkshire and the Midlands, from Leeds and Sheffield to Nottingham, Derby and Birmingham, with some sessions held remotely. For businesses further afield, the review can still be carried out on site, with any further work run remotely where that suits.
